Aaaaand done?

I think I’m done with all of my Social Media and Build a Website comp tasks.

Sharing blog posts to Twitter

Connecting your WordPress blog to your Twitter account, and then sharing blog posts to your feed, is simple.

You can also connect to Facebook and other social media accounts, but lets just focus on Twitter for now.

This is from the WordPress support page:

To enable Publicize, on the Settings→Sharing page click Add new Twitter Connection. You’ll be taken to Twitter where you’ll be asked to approve the connection between your blog and your Twitter account. Click Allow.

New posts will then be automatically shared to your Twitter account, unless you choose to opt out.

Libraries and Social Media

For libraries in this day and age, social media is fast becoming a necessity.

Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram, etc. are all valuable tools to keep up with, and provide information to their user-base.

The State Library of Victoria has YouTube, Flickr, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter accounts.

Yarra Plenty Regional Libraries have Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram accounts.

The National Library of Australia has Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Flickr accounts.

Additionally, here’s an interesting article on why social media and libraries sometimes don’t mesh well: Why social media isn’t working for your library.
